Intrapartum fetal heart rate monitoring is used to assess fetal oxygenation during labor to promote patient safety. To provide optimal patient care, providers (Registered Nurses, Nurse Midwives and Physicians) need to understand the terminology, interpretation of and patient management related to electronic fetal monitoring (EFM). The modules include content regarding components of uterine activity assessment, elements of fetal heart rate patterns, the correlation of fetal heart rate patterns to fetal acidemia, categories of fetal heart tracings, as well as appropriate patient management, teamwork and communication.
