Acute AbdomenCE
Produced by: DigitalMed
The term acute abdomen is used to designate a group of conditions that cause abdominal pain and tenderness of sufficient severity and duration to require surgical evaluation; rapid, accurate assessment; and, frequently, surgical intervention. In this course, you will review the anatomy and pathophysiology of abdominal organs that are associated with these conditions. You will also learn about the clinical presentation and nursing care of patients with bowel obstruction, organ perforation, peritonitis, cholecystitis, appendicitis, vascular occlusion, trauma, and gynecological causes of the acute abdomen. Please note: Completing this course does not authorize you to add any skill discussed in the content to your practice if this function is not included in your current scope of practice.
