Meaningful Use for Healthcare Employees
ELC Information Security
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the Meaningful Use rule on July 13, 2010 under HITECH, specifying the objectives that hospitals must achieve to qualify for incentive payments. Everyone that updates electronic health records (EHRs) plays a hand in whether a hospital meets meaningful use objectives, but not all employees are aware of their roles or responsibilities regarding EHRs. As a result, some hospitals may be at risk of losing incentive payments from CMS. Meaningful Use for Healthcare Employees teaches staff their specific responsibilities regarding meeting meaningful use objectives, whether they are clinicians or system administrators.
