This module reviews the difference between ADLs and IADLs and explains how a client's ability to perform IADLs is assessed. It also describes the importance of each IADL to a client's independence and offers practical ways that nurse aides can help their clients. The IADLs covered include telephone use, shopping, planning and preparing meals, housekeeping, laundry, transportation and keeping up with medications. The inservice closes with some cautionary tips about helping clients with their finances.
